Over the past year, Atlanta drivers have gone from paying $3.39 for a gallon of regular gasoline to the current $2.27. Senior Petroleum Analyst Gregg Laskoski says falling crude oil prices have certainly helped. According to Laskoski, the national average for a gallon of regular gasoline is $2.32 a gallon, down 7 cents a gallon over the past week. He adds that a month ago we were paying $2.66 a gallon. Its a drop of 34 cents, which Laskoski calls very good news for consumers. Thats more than a penny per gallon per day.

The $2.27 a gallon in Atlanta, according to Laskoski, is a huge decline from where we were a month ago when we were paying $2.52. Thats down 6 cents a gallon over the last week. This time last year, Laskoski says motorists in the metro were paying $3.39.

Laskoski is with Gasbuddy.com, a source for real-time local gas prices. Currently, Laskoski says the lowest price for a gallon of regular in metro Atlanta is $1.94 at a Texaco on Five Forks Trickum Road and Turner Road SW in Lilburn.
